Explanation: Had an accident and had to see a doctor (psych) in order to get disability and then to return to work. I explained this to them at this place and they said “no problem. We have done disability claims before and we can take care of it.” They also told me on the phone that I would have to go 3 times per week and that’s for a minimum of 4 weeks however they could take me as a client immediately. I came in and got the evaluation and began attending.
I get a different office assistant then the one I had talked to telling me to call back. I told them I will no longer be going as my claim is closed and I’ve been paid. I am told again that I can’t do that without approval. I state I’m not coming and I’m told I there is a cancellation fee of $50 and the assistant will call me back. Waiting for that call...
group therapy I did not feel like I could relate to anyone and individual therapy I had was poor. I asked about returning to work during this long period of time that they had to wait for signatures and “looking into things.” I was told we would review it the next week to make sure I was “feeling well enough to return to work” because they just wanted to make sure. I said fine. The next week we had a discussion and I repeated I wanted to return to work. They asked how I was feeling and I explained I felt great things were going well and I just wanted to return. I was told again “let’s evaluate again next week.” This was where I began to question them wanting my money or trying to help me actually. I went back again and they said the same thing but I stated that they had told me that the previous week and I couldn’t keep going with no income. I was asked about 5 or 6 times in the same session how I was feeling and if I felt ready. I’ve been asking for the past 2 weeks and Im asking again and I tell you yes 4-5 times and then you ask me again and reluctantly approve but stage I have to keep coming 3 times per week (2 group therapy and 1 individual).
Everything is slow and difficult here. The therapists seem to care but the administration just wants your money so they will tell you to keep coming if you don’t need to. I eventually got what I need just very slow, difficult, and poor therapy (Short version).
When I got there and asked about doing the claim they said they were unsure and I would have to contact my disability provider. I did and got the paperwork and it asked for notes etc. I gave this to them. They told me they would pass it to the doctor for him to sign it. The next day I’m. there again and asked about it and still was not done. I called the next day and they apologized stating the doctor was out for the next week. I call the next week and ask about it stating “I’m not getting paid disability until you approve this and I can’t go back to work until you approve me to go back so I have no income.” They tell me the doctor had signed it but they would need me to sign release of informationpapers now. I go there the next day and sign. I call a couple days later and it still had not been done! I kept bugging them until they finally approved me for both. It took about 3 weeks.
Its now been about 6 weeks. I called my disability department to find out if I could stop going as it was costing me $500/mo in copays to keep going for something that was unhelpful. I was told my claim had been approved and I was already paid and since I returned to work I no longer was required to go to get anything further however they recommended following what the doctors said. I called the office and asked for the assistant who had been doing the individual Therapy (individual Therapy is not the doctor (psychiatrist) just FYI). Im told they are unavailable and I can’t stop going without their approval (a lie) and they will call me back in a little bit. I was unable to take the call over an hour later when the call came so I called back and am put on hold for 10 minutes and then was told call back in 15 minutes. I called back and was told call back in 45 minutes. I call back in 45 mins and am told to call back in 15 minutes.
